What Being a Mom of Two and an Entrepreneur Has Taught Me

There’s no question that balancing life as a mom of two and running a business has been one of the most rewarding AND challenging journeys of my life. Each role comes with its own unique demands, skillsets, and growth requirements. Together they’ve taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and purpose. While everyone’s path is different, I want to share some reflections on what this experience is teaching me, in the hope that it resonates with or inspires others.

Time Is Your Most Precious Resource

With two kids and a business to manage, time is more precious than ever. Every moment feels like a balancing act, and I’ve had to get laser-focused on prioritizing what truly matters – whether that’s solving a complex client issue, supporting a team member, attending a precious school volunteer opportunity, or resting. Letting go of perfectionism and learning to embrace efficiency has been a game-changer. Whether it’s carving out family time or focusing on high-impact tasks in my business, I’m learning to use my time wisely, focusing on when I’m most creative, productive, analytical … and tired.

The Power of a Strong Support System

Juggling parenting two children and running a business is not something anyone can—or should—do alone. I’ve learned to rely on a trusted network of friends, family, and colleagues. Whether it’s someone stepping in to help with the kids or a MOD team member taking the lead on a project, building a support system has been essential.

Adaptability is Essential

Life with kids is full of surprises, and so is entrepreneurship. With two little ones, no two days look the same, and that unpredictability has taught me to embrace flexibility. Whether it’s pivoting plans at home or in my business, being adaptable has made me a stronger problem-solver and leader.

Empathy Makes Everything Better

Being a mom has taught me so much about understanding and patience, which I carry into my work. With two kids, you quickly learn that each child has unique needs, and the same is true for clients and my team. Empathy helps me connect with others, navigate challenges, and approach everything (most things?) with care and compassion – I’m trying anyway!

Boundaries Keep Things Balanced

With two children and a business, it’s easy to feel like there’s never enough time to go around. I’ve learned that setting boundaries is not just necessary—it’s a form of self-care. Protecting family time, carving out moments for myself, and being intentional about work hours and the kind of work we’re focusing on allows me to show up fully, both as a mom and as an entrepreneur.

Purpose Drives Everything

At the heart of it all is the deep sense of purpose I feel every day. My kids inspire me to work hard and build something meaningful, not just for them but for the world. I want to show them what it looks like to pursue your dreams, create a positive impact, and build a life you’re proud of. This same purpose drives my work with clients, helping them achieve their goals and find their own version of success. My girls are my north star.

Final Thoughts

The journey of being a mom of two and an entrepreneur isn’t without its challenges, but it’s also filled with so much joy and growth. These roles have taught me resilience, creativity, and the importance of showing up, even when things feel uncertain. They are shaping me into the person I am and who I want to be, and for that, I’m deeply grateful. If you’re on a similar path, know that you’re not alone. The challenges may be real, but so is your strength. Keep going—you’re building something incredible for yourself and your family.
